Whether a visit to us on site, loan or inter-library loan: here is how you can use our literature for your research.

Use of the archives and library

The Iron Library and the Corporate Archives of Georg Fischer Ltd. support the free and unrestricted use of their holdings by science, technology and the interested public.

Opening hours

The reading room of the Iron Library in the Klostergut Paradies is open to library and archives users from Monday to Friday by appointment. Special closing dates and company holidays can be found here.

Visit registration

In principle, every person is entitled to use the holdings free of charge. Advance registration with details of the subject and purpose of the research is required. The archives holdings are partly subject to retention periods, which are indicated in the archives catalog.

Reference library

The Iron Library is a reference library. The holdings can be consulted in the reading room but cannot be borrowed.

Loans for GF employees

One exception is the loan of items to GF employees at its Schaffhausen location. You can order the books from the Iron Library by e-mail or telephone and have them delivered to your workplace by postal service. Interlibrary loan

Books that are not available in the library can be obtained free of charge from the Iron Library through interlibrary loan from other libraries in the region and further afield. The Iron Library also makes its literature available via interlibrary loan for consultation in other libraries in Switzerland and abroad.
