The Iron Library Foundation is one of the world's largest private specialist libraries in the field of the history of technology, with some 46,000 individual titles. Every year, over 1,000 people visit the library in the reading room or at an event.
The Iron Library also manages the archives of its founder, Georg Fischer Ltd. The GF Corporate Archives are included in the Swiss inventory of cultural assets as an archive of national importance. The archive and the library jointly preserve the historical and cultural heritage of the GF Corporation, whose roots go back to the 18th century. They are part of the cultural, economic and social history of Switzerland.
Since its foundation in 1948, the Iron Library has been located at the Klostergut Paradies, GF's training center near the town of Schaffhausen.
