Open Day at Paradies 2026
In glorious summer weather, the Paradies Monastery and the Iron Library opened their doors to around 350 visitors on July 5, 2026. Georg Fischer employees, families, retired staff and day-trippers took the opportunity to discover the impressive historic monastery complex and its wide range of attractions.
There was particularly keen interest in the guided tours of the Iron Library and the photographic exhibition on the history of Georg Fischer AG. Several guided tours of the Baroque monastery and parish church were especially enjoyed by visitors with an interest in art history. The various hands-on activities for young and old alike were also very well received. In the blacksmith’s workshop run by the Eligius Blacksmiths’ Guild, at the historic book press of the Gutenberg Guild, and whilst making paste paper and cyanotypes in the monastery garden, fascinated guests had the chance to observe craftsmanship at work and get creative themselves.
Boat trips on the nearby Rhine offered a unique view of the monastery estate and the adjacent nature reserve. A quiz trail with an ice-cream reward, as well as the food and drink on offer in the monastery park and on the terrace of Restaurant 1802, rounded off the successful event.
