Bookbinding Courses

Friday, June 12 and September 25, from 10am to 5pm on both days

Workshops with bookbinder Sandra Merten

For many years Sandra Merten has been binding and restoring books for the Iron Library. This year she will be offering two very special courses in June and September.

Course 1: Notebook based on historical design

Friday June 12 , 10am to 5pm

Historical notebooks are often characterised by a flexible cover, slightly rounded corners to withstand travel unscathed, and are covered with durable cover material. The endpaper adds a splash of colour to the inside, and a flap keeps inserted notes in place.

Cost: CHF 250 including materials, coffee breaks and lunch

Registration: eisenbibliothek@georgfischer.com (limited number of places)

Course 2: Artist's book "Arboretum"

Friday September 25, 10am to 5pm

The arboretum at the Klostergut Paradies is a uniquely beautiful place that invites creative exploration on this day. A variety of papers meet different techniques to capture the surfaces, shapes and materiality of trees and shrubs and compile them in an artist's book.

Cost: CHF 250 including materials, coffee breaks and lunch

Registration: eisenbibliothek@georgfischer.com (limited number of places)
