Book donation from the Technorama in Winterthur

At the end of 2025, Technorama, the Swiss Science Center, dissolved its historical library collection as part of a strategic realignment. While this marks the end of an era for this aspect of the Technorama, it opens an exciting new chapter for the Iron Library, which has taken over several hundred of these works on industrial history, science, and technology in Switzerland.

Among the highlights are the complete ten-volume set of "Das Buch der Erfindungen" (1901), foundational technical literature such as "Die Schule der Elementar-Mechanik und Maschinenlehre" (1879), and works that cover gaps in the Iron Library's holdings on topics such as "The Origins of the Motion Picture" (1964).

In the coming year, we will begin cataloguing the titles and integrating them into the collection. We look forward to making this extraordinary donation accessible to researchers and the public.
