Donation from Dr. Ing. Bernhard Droste

It gives us great pleasure to announce a donation made to the Iron Library by Dr. Ing. Bernhard Droste, former director of the Bundesanstalt für Materialprüfung.

Over his years at the Bundesanstalt - and also at home as a passionate private collector of rare books – Dr. Droste has accumulated an impressive assortment of works on the identification and analysis of the properties of the materials used in numerous technological fields. His exceptionally generous donation from his private library has brought a contemporary depth to the Iron Library's specialist collection of works on materials technology and their testing.

Included in the donation is the full run of the International Journal of Radioactive Materials Transport (1990 to 2014), which neatly brings together several of the library's established subject areas – plastics technology, metalwork and infrastructure – and applies them to a field which was formerly not so strongly represented in the holdings.
