Donation from Prof. Dr. Dietrich Braun

After his first extensive donation in 2016, Prof. Dr. Dietrich Braun, former director of the German Plastics Institute in Darmstadt, has made a further gift of important works on the history and chemistry of plastics to the Iron Library.

The collection of around 150 books from his private library cast light on the synthesis of new forms of polymers in the 19^th and 20^th centuries as well as the development of industrialized mass production that established plastics as a key material in modern technology.

In particular, the donation includes the earliest issues of the journal "Kuststoffe" – an important and valuable addition to the literature about the history and development of modern construction materials in the Iron Library.
