Nothing beats the Eiffel Tower...

In the last issue of our Newsletter, we invited you to participate in the competition to celebrate the 60th anniversary of our journal FERRUM. You were asked to choose your favorite cover from among the 40 cover pictures. We now have the results of our survey and we've drawn the names of the three winners …

We had people participating in the FERRUM anniversary competition from all over the word, even from as far away as Sri Lanka. We would like to thank everybody who took part! The result, though, leaves no room for doubt: the picture chosen by the largest number of participants as their favorite is the Eiffel Tower from FERRUM 49.1978. The picture was taken by Louis-Émile Édouard Durandelle on 21 August 1888 and shows the second platform of the Eiffel Tower being assembled.

The second place was also clear: it was the cover from FERRUM 84.2012. Michael Kessler's photo shows an underground water reservoir in Schaffhausen.

Third place was won by the latest issue of FERRUM 86.2014, with Peter Berger's photo of a Abt system gear rack.

The winners who were drawn by lot are: Sebastian Janesch (Schlattingen), Brigitta Laube (Zurich) and Jürgen Ströer (GF Automotive Singen).
