"Pioneer - Citizen - Entrepreneur, 250 years of Johann Conrad Fischer": Anniversary celebration

Johann Conrad Fischer was born on 14 September 1773. As the first President of the town of Schaffhausen and founder of the Naturforschende Gesellschaft and today's Georg Fischer Ltd, he left his mark on the town's history.

Together with Georg Fischer Ltd and the Naturforschende Gesellschaft Schaffhausen, the town of Schaffhausen organised the festive anniversary event "Pioneer - Citizen - Entrepreneur, 250 Years of Johann Conrad Fischer (1773-1854)" on the eve of Fischer's 250th birthday. On Wednesday, 13 September 2023, we invited all interested parties to this festive evening in the Pavillon im Park.

At the beginning, the audience was welcomed by President Peter Neukomm and received a greeting from the government by Director of Education Patrick Strasser. The keynote speech by Franziska Eggimann of the Iron Library took the audience on a journey through Fischer's fascinating life. This was followed by a panel discussion moderated by historian Matthias Wipf, in which Andreas Müller (CEO GF), Peter Neukomm and Iwan Stössel (Naturforschende Gesellschaft Schaffhausen) discussed the dimensions of Fischer's contribution to technology, business and politics.
