The Iron Library is a foundation that is supported solely by Georg Fischer AG. The Library's governing bodies are the Board of Trustees, the Committee of the Board and the country delegates.
The Board of Trustees is made up of persons from the business, science and research communities in Switzerland, Austria and Germany. Representatives of companies as well as of universities, libraries, research institutes and employees of Georg Fischer AG sit on the Board. The Chairman of the Board of Trustees is the CEO of
Georg Fischer AG.
The Committee of the Iron Library Board consists of one representative of each of the Corporate Groups of Georg Fischer AG. The Committee is chaired by Dr. Stephan Wittmann, and the Chairman's duties include financial monitoring.
An important role in the organisation of the Iron Library Foundation is played by the country delegates who are responsible in the main for organising the content of the annual Conference on the History of Technology (Technikgeschichtliche Tagung). In order to ensure the international character of the Conference, the country delegates come from Switzerland, Germany and Austria and have deep roots in research in their respective countries. The position of country delegate is honorary. The present country delegates are Kilian T. Elsasser
(Museumsfabrik, Lucerne), Dr. Helmut Lackner (Deputy Head
Technical Museum, Vienna) and Professor Manfred Rasch (
ThyssenKrupp Corporate Archive, Duisburg).
The management of the library is represented on all bodies.
